Following the untimely death of Ronnie Scott in December 1996, John and Saxophonist Pat Crumly formed the Legacy Quartet, to keep the memory of Ronnie - his music and his humour - alive.
They went on to appear at Ronnie Scott's Club many times and completed 2 major tours of the UK plus a Mediterranean cruise with Cunard and a tour of New Zealand.
Pat Crumly was a major force in promoting the Quartet and his sudden death in September 2008 was a serious blow to all.
The regular members of the Quartet - Tim Wells - Double Bass and Mark Fletcher - Drums + John Critchinson wanted to keep the group going and in May 2009, appeared for 3 nights at Ronnie Scott's Club as a memorial for Pat Crumly with Mornington Lockett - playing Saxophone.
Subject to his availability, Mornington is now a valued member of the Quartet and we are pleased to be represented by the B.P.R. organisation.
A CD of the original Quartet plus guests - Flora Purim and Georgie Fame - is available from jazzizit.co.uk - JITCD 0535.
