Jacqui Hicks and the John Critchinson Trio

Vocalist Jacqui Hicks and pianist John CritchinsonVocalist Jacqui Hicks and pianist John Critchinson have been working together for some 10 years in Quartet and Duet formats and they share the same quest for quality of music and song arrangements.

In 2002, Jacqui joined John's Trio - Dave Green - Double Bass and Tristan Mailliot - Drums and subsequently made 4 successful appearances at Ronnie Scott's Club.

This exciting Quartet is setting high standards, with new arrangements of the British and American Song Books, ancient and modern, to which John adds some 'classic' Ronnie Scott humour

Their current CD is "With a song in my Heart" (33 records) featuring their regular musicians - Dave and Tristan plus Martin Shaw Trumpet and Flugel Horn. They have recently recorded the next CD, entitled 'A Child Is Born', which also features guest contributions from Bobby Wellins and Martin Shaw, playing some of Jacqui's own, fine arrangements.

Jacqui has also been joining the John and Art Themen Quartet for some great gigs at JAGZ Ascot and Lauderdale House Hampstead etc...

Jacqui Hicks - came through Leeds College of Music, via NYJO and in 1992, she joined funk band Shakatak and has since toured the world with them. Her debut solo album Spellbound (Hi-Hat 2001) received excellent reviews and her current CD with John Critchinson's Trio, proves Jacqui's talent as a gifted singer and arranger of both standards and jazz music.

"A singer of warmth, poise and intelligence, whose smokey voice is a pleasure to listen to." - Yorkshire Post.
